Default Sleeping full-time in a float tank

Hi.

Do any of you know anything about sleeping full-time in a float tank (instead of a bed)? Any of you tried it or heard anything at all? More specifically, I wonder if this would this entail any physically problems with ears or skin, e.g. fungi, etc.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have my own tank so I have tried a few times to spend the night floating. Its never worked for me. I can't get past a few hours. I also find that my tank doesn't keep a perfect temp for hours on end. My body can pick on on that difference. I'm going to redo parts of my tank in the spring and get a much better heater.

I know another floater in Minneapolis who has been floating for over 20 years. He wrote a paper on this subject. I'll try to get a copy and pass it over to you. Give me a few weeks.

I have come pretty close to that at times. When I first got my tank about 10 years ago I was at suicidal type chronic pain levels for about 5 years and couldn't get treatment. I floated every night at bedtime for 3 to 5+ hours. I did this for several months. It did help with the pain quite a bit.

One interesting effect is that my consciousness would start going into float mode in the shower beforehand. I could hardly lay back quick enough in the tank. I did get one ear infection requiring being dry for about 10 days.

Were you wearing earplugs when you got the ear infection?

I've contemplated it many times, but never really tried it. I have slept in my tank though not every night. I had a strange experience the first time I floated, for a week after that float I couldn't sleep for more than 4 hours per night, and every morning I woke up feeling great. Strangely that hasn't occured since.
