Tank weight
I was reading some of the other threads and saw Ben's question regarding tank weight/humidity. The response to weight stated that it should be about 900 lbs with 800 lbs in salt. I'd like to point out that 100 lbs of water is only 12 gallons in volume (8.34 lbs per gallon). I apologize if I didn't read that response correctly.
To extrapolate to the real world, a 4' by 8' tank with 10 inches of water holds about 200 gallons (758 liters). At 8.34 pounds per gallon, that's close to 1700 pounds. Add the salt and you'll run between 2300 and 2500 pounds depending on dimensions, temperature, etc. In kilograms, that's roughly between 1000 and 1100. Check my conversions and tell me if I'm wrong about this.
As far as humidity and smell, as long as the tank stays covered there should be little smell and humidity. My tank is constructed very differently than what being offered on this site (kit from a manufacturer rather than DIY as here) but the physics should be the same. Mine uses a passive ventilation system rather than a fan but, as long as I keep the _water_ covered, there's little problem with excess humidity.
