Default Oxygen enriched hyperbaric float tank??

I have dreamt up this crazy idea about building a airtight float tank that would be pressurize to about 4psi with some pure oxygen added. It would have a pressure relief valve that pops off at 3 psi. An aircompresser and oxygen tank that are both regulated to 4 psi. While you are floating you are also being subjected to a constant supply of oxygen enriched air in a pressurized environment. So in a nutshell you have a "Oxygen enriched hyperbaric float tank".

You might be wondering why I would want to build this type of float tank. We'll my thought process works like this...

1. One hour in a float tank makes me feel fully rested and revitalized as if a had slept all night.

2. I have recently read quite a bit about the healing properties of a hyperbaric chamber. The results they have had with injury patients and children with MS are phenomenal. It works something like this. pressurizing the atmosphere allows your body to absorb more oxygen which assist in the healing and repair of your body and a cellular level.

3. If you combine these to devices I believe that one hour of float time would dramatically reduce recovery times after strenuous exercise, injury, sickness or a just plain stressful day. The health benefits would be amazing!!!

I am writing today to seek advice and to find a person/persons who might be interested in this idea to collaborate with me on the design of this project. I don't believe that 4 psi is enough to have to worry about getting the bends if you had to exit the tank quickly. I believe this ideal could me accomplished using a small aircompresser to pressurize the tank and then maintain it with a tank of welding oxygen regulated to 4psi.

I you have any questions, comment or would be interested in helping me design this project. Please leave a post or send an email.

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day.

Jay D.

Hi,

hope you are still out there....
I actually developed the same idea some time ago with slightly different intentions : Using an oxygen-chamber-tank might also make transpersonal experiences more probable like hyperventilation, holotropic breathing etc. do.

People using a hyperbaric chamber therapeutically also report amazing psychic states like deep tranquillity, no boredom , no need to move etc.

Let`s build it !

Good idea !

but as to be safe ;"Just remember that chambers have actually blown up (not in the US) because of static electricity, or materials brought in that should not have been.

Something New (and Dangerous) to Watch For!!! http://www.hbot.com/somethingnew.htm

One way can of using is with a mask and hood systems use intake and exhaust hoses for the oxygen to make a sealed breathing circuit that exhausts outside the chamber. Sealed circuits prevent oxygen build-up into the chamber atmosphere.

check this for infos:http://www.oxytank.com/ http://www.hbot.com/

The hyperbar (1 ATM.pressure )setup can be very expensive.

How much do you think building such tank will cost ?

thanks, Antiono, for the information.

That was the reason of why I gave up this idea. But after reading this post I find this idea too valuable to be given up.

So here my suggestion :

The first thing would be to find more competent people to join our project. So we may want to open a yahoo group or s.th. like that, where we gather information, make it systematically available to the public etc. and declare our intentions. This would be a good basis to contact experts, professionals, the major isolation tank and hyperbaric chamber producers. If we are lucky, we might find some people with the necessary financial background and interest to produce it.

As I said before, I am especially interested in possibilities of enhancing transpersonal experiences in the tank.
So this afternoon I happened to think about Near Death Experiences and their induction for therapeutic reasons.
Then I got the following idea :

Have you ever heard about "Meduna" or Carbon Dioxide Therapy ?

"Dr. Joseph Atkinson, a specialist in gastroenterology, created a carbon-dioxide therapy that allowed his patients to access the core issues of their personalities which he believed was the true cause of their physical ailments. Atkinson's therapy, which involved having patients inhale a carbon-dioxide mixture (called THE MEDUNA MIXTURE), triggered classic near-death experiences. Patients frequently felt that they were dying and reported moving up a tunnel and seeing a bright light. Many of Atkinson's patients also experienced the same kind of permanent changes in personality that accompany traditional near-death experiences. Although Morse claims that Atkinson was so successful that both he and his colleagues believed their therapy should be made available as an inexpensive alternative to psychotherapy, it never was accepted by the medical community at large. It was used for twenty years after World War II and then discontinued when Atkinson retired"

What do you think about using Meduna in the tank ?

Meduna is 70% O2 and 30% CO2.

This is an interesting artical: http://mypage.direct.ca/g/gcramer/hyper.html

This page shows a reasonably priced chamber: http://www.vitao2.com/solaceII.html It doesn't appear to be O2 enriched, but perhaps that is a good thing.

Good luck. I would be interested in the progress of this project

Since we are talking about a completely new generation of tanks here, about building the perfect tank, I would suggest to build a circular tank, in which you rotate slowly like a mandala.

This kind of tank is very rare, although mentioned in Lilly's "Deep Self". It is said to allow a special cosmic experience.

In Germany one tank of this kind is being built - the only one at all. The problem of the few earlier rotation tanks - you sometimes touch the wall while rotating seems to be solved by sensitive (noiseless) motors !

It maybe a good idea to build this tank in a way that allows to switch between rotating and normal floating.

It could also be helpful to build the tank with an pyramidal structure.
