Thermometers

I was wondering has anyone gone to the trouble to use multiple thermometers/temperature sensors? Rather than fretting over getting one single thermometer which is accurate to within 0.1 degree F, I would think it much more useful to use several thermometers accurate to within 1.0 degree F which are then placed in multiple locations in the water and then having a microcontroller act as the thermostat, averaging out the values of the multiple thermostats.

And for that matter, one could zone the heating. I would imagine that the area near the upper body would stay the warmest by virtue of the largest part of your body working with the heater to maintain the temperature, versus the area around the legs not maintaining the heat as well. If one could provide 2 or maybe 3 distinct zones of heat, it could maintain a more even heat in the tank for the floater. I am going under the presumption that the heating elements in a floatation tank are located under the tank liner. Forgive me if this is an erroneous assumption to have made.

on my setup i place the sensor on 3/4 up and as the heater in on the floor eat will go up.

i don't think multiple sensors or zones can add more even heat as the thermostat on/off period are long enought you will see no difference or perception. to confirm such a log analyst will be needed.

heating the air or top of the tank will provide a warmer perception to the floater inside. ( no forced air flow ).
